Australian Blackwood: March 2022 update

I planted these on 12th Feb. It’s a month later, so lets have a look at progress.

Remember, I did two batches to test germinations: one crushed, and one sanded. Each batch had about 50 seeds planted. The control is probably the Black Wattle, for which I did neither, and the seed was kinda similar.

Here we are after 2 weeks (24th Feb)

Crushed: 1
Sanded: 0

Here we are after 3 weeks (4th March):

Crushed: 9
Sanded: 8, and it seems with a latter start

And 3 and a bit weeks (8th March):

Crushed: 10
Sanded: 9

I think the crushed box got a bit more sun, which accounts for the earlier start. But I’m not seeing much real difference between the two methods. Sanding was probably easier to do. They’re both doing better than the Black Wattles, which I’m attributing to the warm water soaking.
